+ OKU was a stunning hotel, with beautifully refurbished contemporary rooms. The staff were fantastic, always friendly and helpful. The convenience of using WhatsApp to make reservations was very efficient. As a bonus for visiting late in the season, we were given a complimentary room upgrade which made our stay even more special. The included breakfast buffet was outstanding and was one of the best I've seen. The hotel has several lovely pools, and the outdoor ones were still a comfortable temperature for swimming, even in November. A car is definitely recommended to make the most of the area, the location was great. There's a small town at the bottom of the hill with a few restaurants and a mini-market, and the local beach was pleasant and easy enough to get to. We'd definitely return. - As the hotel is newly opened, there were a couple of minor teething issues, but our stay was generally fantastic. The main disappointment were the restaurant prices, which felt excessive (e.g. 32 EUR for a burger, 26 EUR for a club sandwich), I understand hotels like this will always charge more than local restaurants but this is the first time I felt the prices were unfair. I also had a slightly inflexible experience at the terrace bar, being told I'd need to go downstairs to order a drink as it was before the official 6pm opening, despite a couple of members of staff being present from 5pm. That said, the more junior bartender was very friendly and went the extra mile to come and serve drinks as soon as he was allowed. + The hotel itself was great — the rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent as well, with plenty of choice and fresh options. Overall, both the service and the atmosphere made the stay really enjoyable.
− It is absolutely unacceptable that the hotel charged me €2,385 twice on my card — not as a pre-authorization, but as two real debits. As a young father, this creates real and immediate financial issues that should never happen when staying at a hotel of this category. The food at the restaurant was insanely expensive — honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it. It was the first time in my life I saw a burger priced at €32. For what it was, the quality didn’t even come close to justifying the cost. In the end, we decided it wasn’t worth it and drove all the way to Marbella, about 45 minutes away, just to find something more reasonable. Overall, the prices were completely out of proportion to the quality of the food and the experience.
